Learn more about fused glass
Fused glass is a technique used in glass art where different pieces of glass are melted together at high temperatures to form a single, unified piece. This process typically involves placing colored glass elements—such as shards, sheets, or powders—onto a base layer of glass, which is then heated in a kiln to temperatures ranging from 1,100 to 1,600°F (600 to 870°C). As the glass melts, it fuses together to create unique patterns, textures, and shapes. Fused glass is commonly used for creating jewelry, home décor, sculptures, and even stained glass panels. Artists can also manipulate the glass by adding decorative elements, such as glass beads or inclusions. The technique allows for creative experimentation, as the glass can be fused in various ways, like slumping (shaping glass into molds) or combining layers for added depth. Fused glass has gained popularity for its vibrant colors and versatility in both functional and decorative art pieces.
