Learn more about softball

Softball is a popular team sport similar to baseball but played with a larger ball on a smaller field. It typically involves two teams of nine or ten players who take turns batting and fielding. The pitcher throws the ball underhand to the batter, who tries to hit it and run around four bases to score runs. There are two main types of softball: slowpitch, where the ball is pitched with an easy arc, and fastpitch, which involves faster, more challenging pitches. Softball emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and physical skills like throwing, catching, and hitting. It is enjoyed recreationally and competitively worldwide, with leagues for all ages and genders.
