Foothills Bluegrass Music Society
The Foothills Bluegrass Music Society is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to promoting and serving bluegrass music in Southern Alberta since 1987. As a non-profit organization, they support local and regional artists through jams, workshops, concerts, and partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations. The society aims to create opportunities for learning and playing traditional bluegrass music, hosting events such as the annual Shady Grove festival and Thursday Night Jams at the Irish Cultural Centre. With a focus on acoustic instruments and bluegrass adjacent styles, the organization provides a unique platform for talented musicians to share their music. By supporting local talent, the Foothills Bluegrass Music Society contributes to the rich musical heritage of Southern Alberta.
