Edmonton Gojukai Karate Club
The Edmonton Gojukai Karate Club is a traditional karate club that has been serving the community since 1977. Founded by Yoshio Yamashita, who was appointed as shibucho for Canada by Grandmaster Gogen Yamaguchi of Tokyo, this club emphasizes body, mind, and spirit training in Japanese gojuryu karate. Under the guidance of John Priegert, a long-time student and current head instructor, members experience a positive, challenging, and rewarding journey. As an IKGA Canada member club, Edmonton Gojukai Karate Club is dedicated to preserving the traditional Yamaguchi Gojukai style while fostering respect, courtesy, and discipline among its students of all ages and abilities.
