NORTH WESTERN INTERNATIONAL ROWING ASSOCIATION
The North Western International Rowing Association is a regional association of Canadian and American rowing clubs in the Upper Mid-Western United States and Western Canada, founded in 1885 by the Winnipeg Rowing Club, Minnesota Boat Club, and Saint Paul Lurline Rowing Club. The association has undergone several name changes, including a dormant period from 1897 to 1905, before being revived in 1905 as the Mid-West-Canada Rowing Association. Today, the NWIRA comprises 12 member clubs and hosts various rowing events throughout the year, including the annual NWIRA Championship Regatta. The association's regattas and events take place across the region, with the 2025 Championship Regatta scheduled to take place on Rabbit Lake in Kenora, Ontario. As a regional rowing organization, the NWIRA promotes rowing in the Upper Mid-Western United States and Western Canada.
