POPEY
POPEY is a provincial outreach program that builds capacity for literacy teaching and learning in rural school districts by providing educators with continual support and resources. The Rural Residency Project offers professional learning, collaborative planning, and classroom support to help educators develop effective, inclusive literacy instruction. With a focus on K-3 students, POPEY's support includes three days of in-person residency and ongoing virtual support throughout the school year. By facilitating the sharing and transferring of knowledge and practice among primary educators, POPEY aims to empower literacy in BC classrooms. POPEY is funded by the Ministry of Education and Child Care and hosted by Richmond School District.
