Co-operatives First

Co-operatives First is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering rural and Indigenous entrepreneurs in western Canada by providing co-op start-up resources, including business coaching, online courses, and incorporation support. Founded in 2016, the organization aims to help leaders build new businesses, grow local economies, and support community development. With a focus on Indigenous self-determination and community-led initiatives, Co-operatives First offers a unique approach to co-operative development. The organization is funded by Federated Co-operatives Limited and the Co-operative Retailing System, and is committed to supporting the well-being of Indigenous peoples and communities. By fostering cooperation and collaboration, Co-operatives First seeks to create a brighter future for rural and Indigenous communities.
