Vancouver Improvised Arts Society
The Improvised Arts Society is a Vancouver-based organization dedicated to fostering the creation of new artistic works through spontaneous play, education, and research initiatives. By highlighting the work of historically under-represented artists and promoting intersections of gender, race, age, ability, and social status, the organization aims to support and celebrate creativity and innovation. As a hub for artists, VIAS encourages experimentation, collaboration, and performance, while also engaging with the local community and fueling connection and creativity. Founded on the traditional territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ peoples, the organization is committed to being active in the arts community. Through its various programs and events, VIAS seeks to expand and evolve artistic crafts through improvisation and performance.
