UM Indigenous Birding Club
The University of Manitoba Indigenous Birding Club is a community-driven organization dedicated to promoting Indigenous knowledge, connecting with nature, and fostering mental health and wellness through birding activities. Located on the original lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Anisininew, Dakota, and Dene peoples, the club aims to celebrate and preserve the cultural significance of birds in Indigenous traditions. As a welcoming space for birders of all levels, the club offers group bird watching walks, educational workshops, and opportunities to immerse in nature. With the support of various university initiatives and organizations, the UM Indigenous Birding Club promotes the benefits of connecting with nature and honors Indigenous knowledge. By joining the club, individuals can experience the transformative impact of nature on well-being and contribute to a vibrant community of bird enthusiasts.
