Uzume Taiko

Uzume Taiko is a professional taiko ensemble that combines Pacific West Coast, North American, Asian, and European sensibilities to create a unique sound, blending traditional taiko drums and percussion with modern instruments and voices. As Canada's first professional taiko ensemble, they perform at various events, including elementary and secondary school shows, community festivals, corporate events, and touring concerts across North America, Europe, and Asia. With a focus on spreading love and happiness, Uzume Taiko draws inspiration from Japanese mythology and aims to create harmony and peace through their music. The ensemble offers taiko classes and workshops for all skill levels, as well as virtual reality experiences and corporate events. By promoting unity and joy through music, Uzume Taiko embodies the ideals of Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto, the goddess of laughter and first dancer and drummer in Japanese mythology.
