Learn more about cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The game is played on a large, oval field with a rectangular 22-yard pitch at the center. The primary objective is for one team to score more runs than the other. One team bats while the other bowls and fields. A bowler delivers the ball to the batsman, who tries to hit it and score runs, either by running between the wickets or by hitting boundaries. The game has various formats, including Test matches (lasting up to five days), One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20), which is faster-paced. The fielding team tries to dismiss the batsman by hitting the stumps, catching the ball, or other methods. Cricket is especially popular in countries like India, England, Australia, and Pakistan, with a rich history and a culture of passionate fans. It requires skill in batting, bowling, and fielding, and is known for its strategic depth and complex rules.
